The Spectra Pumps are some of the most effective and popular pumps on the market. They are high quality and reasonably priced pumps. The s1 has a built in battery for portability. The s2 can be attached to a portable battery pack for portability (see hack here!).

The challenge with portability has been there was not a refined and easy way to maximize portability which resulted in pumping parents feeling overwhelmed and restricted while pumping.

The Idaho Jones Pump-a-Porter Bag helps increase the portability of the Spectra pumps by creating a custom shaped fanny pack that makes the pump wearable while keeping it secure! Not every parent can use a less efficient portable or wearable pump to meet their breastfeeding goals, but now, more parents can conveniently untie themselves from the wall and make pumping work better for themselves.

Pump-a-Porter Bag Size:

The Spectra s1 and s2 are not small pumps. The globe-like shape actually makes them one of the larger options on the market, so a fanny pack designed to carry these pumps is not going to be small either. The bag is ergonomically designed to make the size workable, though, when it’s on, it doesn’t feel too cumbersome or bulky. The lightweight nature of the pump makes this bag easy to wear for a full pump session.

Pump-a-Porter Bag Storage:

This bag is light on storage because it’s designed for use in wear, not carrying. There is a main compartment that holds the pump and pockets on the side to hold your pump bottles when needed.

Which pumps fit?

The pump compartment easily accommodates the Spectra s1 and s2 it was designed for. Other similar size pumps COULD work, but the bag is designed for the unique shape of the Spectra pumps and doesn’t perform quite as well with alternate pumps. Alternative pumps I have gotten to fit decently are Medela Sonata, Ameda Pearl, Limerick Joy, Spectra Gold (snug fit), and Motif Luna.

Pump-a-Porter Quality:

This bag feels well made, has held up well through use, is easy to clean, and comfortable to wear. The quality is consistent with the Idaho Jones Brand balance of quality and affordability. Aesthetically, it matches the basic gray and black signature look of the brand.

Overall thoughts:

As a lactation consultant, I frequently hear overwhelmed parents struggling to find the tools and routines to make pumping work when a more durable pump like the Spectras are needed. This product strikes a balance between efficiency and the need for flexibility and portability perfectly. It can be used with traditional flanges or wearable cups based on user preference. While this product may not be the right option for everyone, it’s a great solution for this common challenge!

Pumping is hard work, and the Port-A-Pumper Bag can really improve your experience.
