Legendairy Imani i2 Wearable Pump Review

Legendairy-imani-i2-review

Legendairy seems very committed to bringing quality products to the market for breastfeeding parents, and this pump is no exception!

The Imani i2 is a wearable pump comprised of a plastic collection cup, silicone flange, and a removable motor that sits on top of the cup.

Discretion:

This pump is discrete in that it can be worn under clothing with the breast not visible during pumping. The cups are rather large and the motors on top will be visible through clothing.

Noise:

This is not the quietest of pumps, but the noise level wasn’t problematic. I would say it’s much quieter than a Medela Pump in Style, way quieter than the Medela MaxFlow, and more in line with the average breast pump. It’s not something I would be comfortable wearing up close to someone, but it didn’t interfere with a Telehealth consult.

Suction Strength/Patterns:

This pump has a decently smooth suction pattern with gentle, but impressive suction. There is no vibration with the suction.

Modes:

There are two modes: expression: which is lower speed, higher suction, and stimulation: which is higher speed and lower suction. Each mode has adjustable suction strength. The controls are on top of the motors, so it’s pretty easy to toggle back and forth to control.

Ease of Control:

The buttons on this pump are fairly intuitive, and the controls are easy to access. Each pump operates independently which means you can control each breast’s ideal patterns yourself. There is no app, and the only way to control the pump is to use the buttons on the pump motor.

Ease of Acquiring Replacement Parts:

Legendairy appears to keep these parts well stocked, and replacement parts are reasonably priced. Shipping is not quite as fast as Amazon, so a little planning may be necessary.

Sizing Options:

The pump comes with 28 mm and 32 mm flange options, with inserts to reduce in size. Imani flanges are compatible with Maymom, Freemie, Iapoy/Momcozy, Legendairy, Nenesupply and Willow brand inserts. This gives us options from 10 mm to 32 mm, which is a huge perk of this pump.

Overall Concerns:

There are many pumps on the market like this pump, but this one solves some issues others have.

The biggest issue being the lack of quality control with the off-brand versions. Legendairy is an authorized supplier with an excellent business reputation. I am confident they will stand behind the product and assure that quality control issues don’t become an issue with this pump.

Is this as effective as a standard pump like a Spectra?

In my opinion, Spectra’s s1 and s2 are gold standard pumps. They are extremely effective, allow for versatile flange sizing, and are reliable for hundreds if not thousands of hours. Unfortunately, these pumps don’t fit in your bra, so there is a tradeoff when you size down to a motor small enough to wear.

So is this as effective?

No.

Is this an effective pump compared to other wireless options?

Yes.

This is a good option to consider if looking into a wireless wearable option while understanding it’s unlikely to provide the same results as a heavier duty pump.
